There
are seven utilities in this release: "Backup
and Shutdown", "Connectivity Checker", "System
Information", "Set Default Printer", "StartUp Assistant" and the "SOUP Web Updater." Support
is provided Windows XP only. The
StartUp Assistant will perform several tasks for you at startup time:
Backup and Shutdown is the most complex of the utilities. It is designed to save critical data and then shut down the workstation. It will always save the files that are your operating systems registry, all .INI files in the WINDOWS directory, all of your FAVORITES as well as all files and folders in MY DOCUMENTS. The Backup and Shutdown Catalog will display a list of valid backups that may be used for recovery. Backup and Shutdown works best with a PC configuration that has 2 hard drives. The backup is then placed on the second drive. Backup and Shutdown will also work with a PC with a CD or DVD burner and Roxio Drag-toDisk software. The size of backup to CD or DVD is limited to one platter. Backup and Shutdown will mark and rotate 3 platters for backup. Connectivity
Checker
will test your TCP/IP connection. Set Default Printer will select from multiple printers and set the page orientation to Portrait or Landscape as your default choice. System Information will report basic information about your PC that may be needed by Synovative Technology technical support when problems occur. SOUP Web Updater will check for updates to SOUP.
